The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye

Driving proactive healthcare with insights from the eye

Our aim is to improve access, quality, and affordability of healthcare for all

The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye (AHE)

AHE is a consortium of healthcare organizations consisting of health systems, physicians, payers, policy makers, regulators, data privacy experts and representatives from industry and government, working to expand access to affordable healthcare and improve clinical outcomes by enabling the ethical and impactful adoption of oculomics in real-world practice.

The Opportunity

It is time to transform healthcare delivery to improve early disease detection and access to care for all using proven, sustainable models.

Recent technological advances provide the opportunity for safe, quick, non-invasive triaging of asymptomatic patients in settings where doctors can perform medical tests to confirm disease or health status, provide follow up monitoring as needed, and refer for specialized treatment when required.

Integration of Artificial Intelligence holds promise to reduce soaring healthcare expenditures and address the burden of chronic disease worldwide by facilitating earlier detection for timely clinical management, better patient outcomes, and optimized utilization of healthcare resources.

Our Approach

Our approach is to combine ocular biomarkers captured by automated diagnostic technologies with electronic health records (EHR), social determinants of health and genomic data.

Healthcare from the Eye integrates oculomics across the entire care continuum—from pre-screening to triage, monitoring, and personalized risk prediction. This includes disease identification and risk assessment, risk stratification, triage and capacity building, and monitoring and adherence. The implementation of such an approach in a coordinated care system that includes eyecare providers, primary care providers, and specialty care providers using secure and responsible technology supports and advances predictive, preventive, and personalized care.

By directing those at highest risk to treatment before their conditions worsen, and monitoring those at risk for disease progression, we can minimize the financial and social costs of chronic disease.

Shifting the paradigm from reactive to proactive healthcare

How We Operate
